Planning Commission

Overview  

The Planning Commission is a five-member committee appointed by the City Council to review matters related to planning and development. The Planning Commission has authority to review and approve various types of development applications, such as subdivisions, site & architectural review for new commercial and multifamily residential development, and conditional use permits. The Planning Commission also advises and makes recommendations to the City Council on zoning and general plan applications or changes to regulations and policies.  

The Planning Commission holds their public meetings at 6:00pm on the fourth Thursday of each month, with the exception of July, November, and December. In July, there is a legislative recess, which means there are no meetings of the City Council or its boards and commissions, including the Planning Commission. In November and December, the Planning Commission holds its regular meeting on the third Thursday. 

The Planning Commission approves various permits and serves as an advisory body to the City Council on matters related to city growth and development, and on such matters as may be requested by the council. The commission is a five-member body, and each commissioner serves a term.

Meeting Agendas

Agendas for Planning Commission meetings are available online and posted on the bulletin board located on the west alleyway outside of City Hall and available for review at the City Clerk's Office.

Meeting Minutes

The Planning Division office of the Community Development Department prepares and maintains the official minutes of the Planning Commission meetings online. Once approved by the commission they are made available for public distribution.

Online Streaming Video

Residents may watch archived broadcasts of Planning Commission meetings online. Search for an agenda item, past or present on the city’s online searchable database. City Council, Planning Commission, Airport Advisory, and Parks and Recreation Commission meetings can also be view via the City's YouTube Channel.
