The mission of the former Redevelopment Agency was to improve public facilities and infrastructure to facilitate the private investment in removing physical and economic blight in the Project Area and provide safe, decent, and affordable housing for the community.
The Redevelopment Agency assisted with reconstructing and rehabilitating existing structures or developed new residential, industrial, and commercial property. The Redevelopment Agency also participated in the development of new public facilities and infrastructure.
The City of Hollister and the City of Hollister Redevelopment Agency were separate legal entities. On June 28, 2011, Assembly Bill 1X 26 (the “Dissolution Act”) was enacted, which resulted in the dissolution of all redevelopment agencies on February 1, 2012. As a result of the Dissolution Act, the City Council of the City of Hollister adopted Resolution 2012-06, electing to serve as the Successor Agency of the former Redevelopment Agency of the City of Hollister.
