Hollister Fire Department and Hollister Firefighter Events

Challenger Baseball Game
An afternoon spent on the baseball diamond. Local 3395 members get to head to the baseball diamond to take on the Challengers, a competitive special needs baseball team. This tradition occurs at the Veterans Memorial Park and has continued for years.

Bambino Baseball Game
Another fun-filled day will be spent on the baseball field. The Bambinos are a younger, special needs baseball team. Local 3395 members have also had a longstanding tradition of playing against the Bambino’s.

Hollister Firefighters Toy Drive + Share Your Holiday with the Salvation Army
A Christmas toy drive with your Hollister firefighters. During this toy drive, Hollister Firefighters meet and interact with the community, collecting donated toys to give to needy families. The Hollister firefighters collect toys from all around the community, with Target being a main location. The toys are collected and hand-delivered to the local Salvation Army, where the presents are sorted and gifted to local families in need.

Pancake Breakfast
In conjunction with the Sacred Heart School, Hollister Firefighters whip up stacks of hotcakes and enjoy a morning of breakfast and fun with Santa. Donations and proceeds are split between the Sacred Heart and Hollister Firefighters' Association, where the donations are returned to the community.

L3395 Golf TournamentScholarship Fundraiser
A yearly golf tournament that mixes community members and first responders for an afternoon golf scramble fundraiser. Following the golf scramble, an auction takes place with community-donated prizes. The tournament was born in 2021 and is a relatively new fundraiser for the Hollister Firefighters, but the intention is for it to be a longstanding tradition. The tournament proceeds get converted into scholarship money, and the scholarships are given to local high school students looking to embark on post-high school education related to firefighting, emergency response, or frontline work.

Hollister Fire Department Open House
This is a fun and interactive day hosted at the local firehouse. Community members join the Hollister firefighters at the station, where kids get to interact with the firefighters and engage in firefighter tasks. They also learn how to be “Fire Safe.” Food and refreshments are provided along with Station tours and, of course, a chance to meet Sparky.

Battle of the Badges Blood Drive
Hollister Firefighters participate in San Benito County’s “Battle of the Badges” blood drive. A friendly competition where each agency aims to donate the most blood.

Fire VS. Police Super Market Sweep
Your local Firefighters battle it out with the local Police Officers in a Super Market Sweep Showdown. In this challenge, each team attempts to collect as many food items as possible from the store into their shopping cart in 90 seconds. The Team with the highest dollar in their cart totaled at the register is declared the winner of the competition. All items that are collected will be donated to the San Benito Food Bank.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
Taking a stance against domestic violence! This is a community event that Hollister Firefighters participate in by walking in high heels to stand up against sexual violence. The event is part of an international project to increase awareness as well as raise money for the cause.

Lights on Parade
This is a festive celebration where your Hollister Firefighters drive new and old fire engines in the Lights on Parade down San Benito St. Historically, Engine 1 and Engine 5 have been used to Drive Santa, with other Engines joining in the mix. This is a Hollister Downtown Association event that promotes family fun while also gathering canned food donations for the Holidays.

Chili Cook-Offs
Can you trust a Fire Department that doesn’t make good Chili? The Hollister Firefighters have a longstanding tradition of joining in the fun and showcasing their legendary chili recipe. This ranges from Chili Cookoffs in and out of town, with Gilroy Cookoff and Coopers Calling being some of the more recent events.
