Runway 6 Safety Improvement Project:

The City of Hollister owns and operates the Hollister Municipal Airport. The Airport is located at the north end of Hollister and supports General Aviation activities. The Airport currently plays host to a number of airport-related businesses. The airport is also the location of the CalFire Air Attack Base, which plays an important role in suppressing wildfire in six counties. The airport is located on the west side of San Felipe Road at Airport Drive. The Airport Advisory Commission meets at 6:00 p.m. every fourth Wednesday of the month unless otherwise indicated by a Special Meeting on the posted agenda. The meeting location will be at the City Hall Council Chambers, 375 Fifth Street unless otherwise noted on the posted agenda. The Hollister Municipal Airport Runway 6 Safety Improvement Project was required by Federal Aviation Association (FAA) regulations to make improvements to the Hollister Municipal Airport by constructing a new taxiway and modifying an existing runway. The environmental review required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) was approved by the City of Hollister City Council on June 2, 2025. The Notice of Determination (NOD) for the approval of the Final Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) is available here.
