Public Works
The Public Works Department is responsible for the ongoing development of public infrastructure and maintenance of public facilities, with the mission of keeping the city healthy, clean, and safe.
The Department consists of four divisions:
Engineering
The Engineering division is responsible for ensuring that the public infrastructure within the City is designed to meet all state and local standards and that they are built to plan.
Environmental Programs
The Environmental Programs division's core mission is to protect public health; it does this by educating residents and businesses on the best management practices, analyzing environmental data, and enforcing provisions of federal, state, and local laws.
Fleet Services
All vehicles and equipment owned by the City are maintained by our Fleet Services division. Their responsibility is to ensure that staff assigned to any such vehicle or equipment can complete their tasks safely.
Street and Facilities
The Streets and Buildings division is tasked with keeping City facilities, roads, sidewalks, and soundwalls in good working order.
Utilities
The Utilities division is responsible for the operations and maintenance of drinking water, sanitary sewer, and storm water infrastructure. It also maintains the street sweeping program.
