City of Hollister Introduces Interim Fire Chief Rodney Dover

HOLLISTER – On October 21, 2023, the City of Hollister appointed Rodney Dover to serve as the Interim Fire Chief.

Mr. Dover began working as a paid call firefighter in 1998 and became a full-time firefighter in 2003. Since 2005, he has served as the vehicle maintenance manager for the department using his background in automotive repair. Mr. Dover has continued to work through the fire ranks and promoted to Fire Captain in 2013. He was the first Captain assigned to the San Juan Bautista fire station in 2013 when it transitioned from a volunteer station to a full-time operation. Mr. Dover promoted to one of the first City of Hollister Battalion Chiefs in 2018. As a Battalion Chief, he evaluated department needs for fire equipment, in addition to establishing and managing department budgets.

Mr. Dover has continued to work on various projects in the department to include replacing and standardizing the fire department's fleet. In addition to his daily duties, he is currently working on purchasing a Hollister Fire Ladder Truck. This process is very detailed and can take up to several years to have a fire engine completely outfitted for emergency deployment.

Mr. Dover brings a wealth of experience into his new role at the Hollister Fire Department and is excited to lead the department.
