City of Hollister Tree Planting Policy

On October 16, 2023, Hollister City Council adopted a city tree-planting policy. The policy is to serve as a guide to residents when requesting a tree to be planted on the city street right of way.

Residents who want a tree planted on the city street right of way must submit a completed application to the Public Works Department.

The tree must be chosen from the Approved Street Trees List.

City staff will inspect the proposed location to ensure that it meets the spacing requirements.

Residents are responsible for installing and maintaining an irrigation source for the newly planted tree.

Approved locations will be placed on a work list to be planted.

Any trees planted in violation of the policy may be removed by the city without compensation to the resident.
