City of Hollister Introduces Assistant City Manager Rod Powell

HOLLISTER – On March 11, 2024, Hollister City welcomed Rod Powell, to serve as the City of Hollister’s Assistant City Manager.

Mr. Powell has a comprehensive background of nearly 30 years in local government. He joined the City of Salinas holding the position of Assistant Director of Community Development. During this time he focused on effective public engagement; the implementation of innovative strategies in support of the development of affordable and fair housing; the procurement in competitive grant funds to establish a comprehensive homeless services platform; the renovation of aging and outdated community facilities; neighborhood preservation and revitalization; and ongoing planning for several large growth areas.

Preceding his work in Salinas, Mr. Powell held several diverse roles with the County of Monterey. His journey in public service includes work in a broad range of public service areas including public safety, workforce and economic development, social services, community development, and homeless services.

Mr. Powell holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Psychology from San Jose State University and a Master of Public Policy with a dual emphasis in Government and Politics and Health and Social Policy from the Panetta Institute at California State University Monterey Bay.

Mr. Powell enjoys spending time with family and friends, all things ‘creative’ and travel.
